The house is now a museum devoted to Laura and her writings. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 19, 1970, and was designated a National Historic Landmark on July 17, 1991. The Rock Cottage, located nearby on the same property, was built by their daughter Rose Wilder Lane as a gift to her parents, who lived there from 1928 to 1936.
Hand-crafted items are preferable; however, we will have space for manufactured items. ALL vendors will be required to stay set-up and open until the event closes early Saturday evening. Applications are now being taken for booth space for Wilder Days 2022.

In 1894 Laura and Almanzo Wilder paid a $100 down payment on 40 acres of farmland. They named their home "Rocky Ridge." Two rooms of the house were initially built between 1895 and 1897. Further additions through 1912 brought the house to its present form with ten rooms.

Wilder Days 2022
Fans of the Little House on the Prairie series can visit acale models of the Ingalls' homes as featured on the television series and more. Be sure to check out the Laura Ingalls Museum in Pepin, Wisconsin, the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder. You can even visit a recreation of the Little House in the Big Woods cabin in Pepin, which served as the inspiration for the first book in Ingalls Wilder's iconic series.
The life, writings and career of Rose Wilder Lane are also featured in a section of the museum. Recreations of rooms from Rose's homes, her desks, her manuscripts, and souvenirs from her world travels are also displayed. The Rocky Ridge Bookstore is the onsite gift shop where visitors can take home their own souvenirs to remember the historic Laura Ingalls Wilder home. Laura Ingalls Wilder and her husband Almanzo moved to Spring Valley in 1890. Though the Wilder home no longer stands, you can still visit one of the family barns. The Spring Valley Methodist Church, which Laura and her husband attended, is now a museum.
Rock House
Laura began to write at the age of 65 in there. It is part of the Wilder Museum, but is not included in the National Historic Landmark designation. The Museum exhibits include artifacts spanning over a century of the lives of the pioneering history described in the "Little House" books.
There are six rooms on the main level, and three on the upper level. A pleasant pathway leads from the main house to the Rock House, about 1/3 miles long. The Rock House is also accessible by a separate parking area.

There is even an area devoted entirely to Laura's only child, Rose Wilder Lane, who also became an accomplished author. Stories in height with a raised attic section that approaches two stories in places. The original kitchen and one other room are one story. Dormers and gable windows provide light and air to the upper level.
